moonlight has a new friend:

hello there 9-24

a friend gave him to us, his name is simba, he just turned 2 (moonlight will be 2 in Nov).
he lived in a house with a few other cats and a mid-sized dog. that dog just wanted all the cats to leave him alone, and Simba was the boss cat. now moonlight wants to lick his face and play with him and Simba is trying to get used to it, lol.

I've been visiting some family and the dog has been at home with James.
One day, when i came out of the library i noticed i missed a couple of calls from james.
so i called him back:
me: I'm sorry i missed your call, but i was in the library.
james: there was a crisis but it's over.
me: what was it
james: Moonlight got stuck by a bee. on her tongue.
me: how??
james: i think she tried to eat the bee.
me: and what did you want me to do about if from 400 miles away?
james: i didn't know if she needed to go to the vet.
me: well i've never had dog, how would i know?
james: well i called the vet and they said to bring her in if she seemed to have trouble breathing or if it seemed to borrow her after awhile. but she seems fine now. except she doesn't want to be near bees.


so, yeah, my dog tried to eat a bee. silly dog.

so the other day i was standing in the kitchen, with the dog and the light was off. there happened to be a flashlight with a laser pointer. so i started waving it on the floor and moonlight started chasing it. After a few minutes, she sat down, looked at the light on the floor, looked at the flashlight in my hand, back to the floor, back to my hand, got up, stood up to sniff the flashlight and then sat down and looked at me like "what? why are you making me chase it." i wiggled the light. she just looked at me. I wiggled the light. she stared. i wiggled the light, she chased it. After a few minutes we repeated this whole sitting, looking, sniffing, and "what?". And a third time. She's apparently smart enough to figure out I was doing it, but has memory issues, lol.

also there was one of those big bugs, some people call them "mosquito catcher", outside the sliding door. moonlight kept body slamming the door to try to get it, lol. No matter how many times you do that, moonlight, the door will still be there (i hope).

moonlight's undercoat is shedding for the summer. i was trying to brush her, but she wasn't cooperating, and then decided that she didn't want to be brushed she wanted to play.
so we played.

we took moonlight to the "family camp out" with the cub scouts.
she was very good. we had her on a leash but we didn't always hold on to it, and she didn't run off, which i was slightly surprised at (though there weren't really any other dogs or birds or anything to distract her). she slept loose in the tent with me and james. it was terribly hot that day and of course, for once, she wanted to snuggle up against my feet in the tent.

also, she made a new friend this week. we met a lady walking an american eskimo dog - which are another kind of spitz, about the same size as a keeshond, but all white. This one was named sam, he's about the same size as moonlight (so he's a bit small too) and he and moonlight frolicked (on leash) for a bit.

I realized I hadn't done an actual update in awhile.

We have so much snow, even moonlight finally got bored with it! the first couple of days, she was running around, jumping in it, rolling in it, making little tunnels with her nose. now she's like "eh, it's snow, lets walk around in it, sniff it, and go inside".

I would also like to recommend Pedi-paws. Moonlight squiggles a bit when we start, but after a second she chills out.

She's also been pretty calm this week - at least until the boys get home, she goes hyper when they get home, but she's been very relaxing at home with me. maybe she's settling down into the more typical calm adult keeshond attitude.

that's all for now (i've got housework that needs doing - blah!) wish i could train Moonlight to fold clothes.....
